Career Seminar: the Life Science Career Opportunities in China (8/28/2010)
Dear all,

HMS-CSSA is pleased to host a seminar "the Life Science Career Opportunities in China". Our honor speaker is Dr. Darren Ji, the CEO and founder of PharmaLegacy Laboratories, a leading preclinical pharmacology CRO (contract research organization) based in Shanghai. China has emerged as not only an economic superpower, but also a major player in global R&D. It needs many talents, and proves to be a viable career ground for freshly minted PhD and postdocs trained in the US. However, finding a right job in China takes as much research and skills, if not more, as that in the US. In the seminar, Dr. Ji will present a few things to consider before you jump back to the China land.

• Decide your career track – academic or industry
• Know what you love to do – technical or managerial
• Have a career plan – what would you like to do in 3, 5, and 10 years
• Network, network, network
• Develop soft skills – effective communication and interpersonal skills are important
• Join a winning team – how far could you travel depends on whom you travel with
• Don't short sell yourself – sell your strength, not improving your weakness
• Be realistic about China – have a healthy balance about the good and bad of China

Dr. Ji will share his experience and thoughts on locating a job in Life Science industry in China. We are confident that you will hear lots of interesting and useful information that can benefit your career development in China. Meanwhile, PharmaLegacy constantly looks for talents worldwide in scientific leaderships. It is a great job opportunity for you. Please do not miss this great seminar.

Light snack and drinks will be provided.

Time: September 3rd, Friday, 4:00PM-5:00PM
