As we brought up previously, HMS-CSSA is planning to organize an outing event for this coming Saturday, Aug. 22. First, we want to thank all of you who responded to our poll regarding the different options for this event. I guess everyone's got enough of the heat, so time to go out and enjoy some cool breeze by the lake and get to know more fellow Chinese scholars.

LOCATION: Base on the poll, we decided to hold the BBQ in Cochituate State Park in Natick. http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/northeast/coch.htm. From my past experience, Google map direction is somewhat confusing for this park, so please follow the directions on the park's website.

TIME: The event will start at 10:30am on Saturday, Aug. 22. Please make sure to arrive on time since this park is a very popular weekend destination and the parking is very limited. The park WILL BE CLOSED once the parking lot is full, so please BE ON TIME is you signed up for the BBQ.

FOOD and BEVERAGES: All the food and beverages will be managed by CSSA. Food will include burger, hot dog, lamb kabab, fresh fruits and chips. Beverages will be mainly water, juice and soda. You are also encouraged to bring some dishes to share, but not necessary.

THINGS TO DO: There is a small beach by the lake, so remember to bring your bathing suit. Want to row on the lake? There is a boat rental dock. Also bring along your volleyball, soccer, frisbee, kites or whatever you like.

COST: Since CSSA is a self-run organization by volunteers with no funding from either school or embassy, we do need to charge all the participants a fee to cover all the costs. The proposed entry fee for this event is $10 per adult, but kids and seniors will be free. The fee will be collected at the sign-in desk at the event. The detailed cost will be posted on our website (http://hms-cssa.org/) after the event.

REGISTRATION: You are encouraged to bring along your family and friends. To register for this event, please send an email to cssa@hms-cssa.org or reply to the related thread in the Harvard Medical School Club on MITBBS. You can do it one way or the other, but please DO NOT duplicated your registration request. If register by email, please use "BBQ registration" as the subject. In your registration request, please specify the following information:

Please make sure to send in your request by Thursday night, Aug. 20. Once you registered for the event, please DO show up since we are making the purchase based on the head count. In case you cannot make it, please send an email notice to cssa@hms-cssa.org at least 24 hours prior to the event.

WEATHER: The current forecast for this Saturday is scatter thunderstorm, which should not get into our way. However, in case of serious weather, the event will be cancelled and notice all be sent to all the registered members by email or phone.
