Calling for the candidates of 2011-12 Harvard Medical School Chinese Scholars and Scientists Association (HMS-CSSA) executive board members (6/15/2011)

Dear Chinese Community in Harvard Medical School,

The election for the 2011-12 Harvard Medical School Chinese Scholars and Scientists Association (HMS-CSSA) executive board will be held between June 21th, 2011- June 29th, 2011. We are calling for candidates now.

HMS-CSSA is a non-profit, non-political club registered at Harvard Medical School, which provides support and services for the people originated from China who are studying and working at Harvard Medical School and its affiliated institutes and hospitals. HMS-CSSA is the sole recognized Chinese organization in HMS and related institutes by Harvard University and Chinese consulate. The core values of HMS-CSSA are dedicated to making contributions towards the prosperity of our motherland as well as the local community. The association also aims to create a platform for networking, cooperation, and career development among the members, hence serving as a bridge for intercultural communication between China and US. According to the bylaws of HMS-CSSA, the board member election will be held annually. Once elected, board members will meet monthly to discuss issues facing the community, oversee the HMS-CSSA activities, propose and organize events. The HMS-CSSA board comprised of up to 15 members at large. Board members MUST currently be faculty, post-doctoral fellow, visiting scholar, M.D. or Ph.D. student or any other employees at Harvard Medical School or its affiliated hospitals (e.g. MGH, BWH, BIDMC, DFCI, Children's, and Joslin Diabetes Center) Harvard Dental School and Harvard School of Public Health. The board member must be able to speak Chinese Mandarin.

The election will be organized according to the HMS-CSSA bylaws. Please refer to our website (www.HMS-CSSA.org) for details. HMS-CSSA next board member candidates will be evaluated and informed for election by HMS-CSSA board member candidate nomination and election committee. A supervising team has been established to organize the election, leaded by Dr. Long-Jun Wu (Children's, elected Co-president of 2011-2012 board according to by-law), Dr. Yi Hu (BWH), Dr. Jie Ma (Children's) and Dr. Tao Ren (ICCB). It is an excellent opportunity to serve the community, establish network, and develop professional skills.
