Dr. Zhijian (James) Chen joins the advisory board

Dear HMS-CSSA members,

It is our great honor to announce that Dr. Zhijian (James) Chen has recently agreed to join the advisory board of HMS-CSSA (Attached is the bio-sketch of Dr. Zhijian Chen).

Dr. Chen is an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the George L. MacGregor Distinguished Chair in Biomedical Science at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is also an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 2012, he received the National Academy of Sciences Award in Molecular Biology.

With his support, we believe HMS-CSSA will be able to serve our community better.

zhijianchenDr. Zhijian ‘James’ Chen is an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the George L. MacGregor Distinguished Chair in Biomedical Science at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is also an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 2012, he received the National Academy of Sciences Award in Molecular Biology. Dr. Chen received his PhD degree from SUNY-Buffalo and continued a postdoctoral training at the Salk Institute. Before moving to UT Southwestern, Dr. Chen worked at ProScript Inc., where he participated in the development of VELCADE, a drug for multiple myeloma. Dr. Chen’s major research interests are to understand ubiquitin signaling in the NF-kappaB pathway and to elucidate the pathways and mechanisms of innate immunity.
