Jundong (Jeff) Zhang was an NIH postdoctoral fellow in the Biology Department of MIT after obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Brown University in 1993. He joined RepliGen, a small biotech company, in 1996 as a research scientist working on small molecule drug discovery. After RepliGen terminated its research program in 2001, he was hired by IPSEN, a mid-size pharmaceutical company, as a senior research scientist working on peptide drug discovery. Jundong took on increasing responsibilities at IPSEN, leading the analytical, purification, DMPK, and early formulation activities. He held the position of Associate Director when IPSEN closed its Milford research site in 2013. After laid off, he was an at-home dad and started taking contract positions to gain experience in analytical development and method validation under GMP. He joined Neon Therapeutics, a startup biotech company on immunotherapy, as a principal scientist in analytical chemistry in 2015. He is currently the Director of Analytical Chemistry at Neon, taking charge of all analytical and purification activities in research and clinical drug manufacturing. Jundong authored and co-authored 30 papers, held 4 patents, and wrote a book on scientific writing.
