Dear Chinese Community at Harvard Medical School,
The election for the 2016-2017 Harvard Medical School Chinese Scholars and Scientists Association (HMS-CSSA) executive board will be held in the coming weeks.
We are now calling for candidates for new board members and assistants.
HMS-CSSA is a non-profit, non-political organization registered at Harvard Medical School. It is the solely recognized Chinese organization at HMS by Harvard University and the Chinese consulate.  It provides an interactive platform for Chinese scholars and scientists working and studying at Harvard Medical School and its affiliated institutes and hospitals.
Its major goals are to promote career development of Chinese scholars and scientists at the HMS community, to serve as a bridge for better communication between China and the U.S., and also to provide a platform for networking, collaboration and career opportunities among our members.
According to the bylaws of HMS-CSSA, the board member election is held annually. The 2016-2017 HMS-CSSA board will be comprised of up to 17 members. Board members must currently be post-doctoral fellows, visiting scholars, Ph.D./M.D. students or employees who will stay at Harvard Medical School and its affiliated institutes and hospitals for at least 2 years. In addition, up to 15 assistants will also be elected this year. Responsibilities of board members include 1) attending monthly meetings to discuss relevant issues of the month, 2) organizing events for the best interest of HMS-CSSA members, and 3) overseeing overall board activities.
The election will be organized according to the HMS-CSSA bylaws. Please refer to our website http://www.hms-cssa.org for detailed information.
Candidates will be evaluated and informed for election by HMS-CSSA election committee. An oversight team has been established to organize the election, led by Dr. Wen Chen (from HMS), Dr. Zhiqiang Lin (from BCH), and Dr. Qing Li (from DFCI).
